New York Dream Act

NYDA-Head2The New York DREAM Act is a proposed piece of legislation which would allow undocumented students who graduate from New York State public schools to access state financial aid and scholarships in order to pursue higher education in NYS. The bill would also open  529 tuitionsavings accounts (TAP) to all New York youth, and establish a DREAM Fund Commission to raise private funds for a college scholarship program for children of immigrants.

The New York DREAM Act failed to be passed by the state senate in the Spring 2013 legislative season. Activists and advocates will continue to push for the passage of the bill in next year’s session.
